His Name Became a Law. His Story Became a Lifeline.

ree

On November 3rd, 2017, our world changed forever. We lost our beautiful 3-year-old son, Elijah-Alavi, after an unmindful act at a New York City daycare. What should have been a day filled with laughter and learning instead became a day of unimaginable loss, one that shattered our family’s world. For me, his mother, and his brother, the grief never leaves. It lives quietly in our hearts, but so does his light, his voice, and his purpose.

In Elijah’s memory, we made a promise that no other child, family, or community should ever endure the same pain. That promise became the foundation of our work, the Elijah Alavi Foundation, born out of love, grief, and a relentless commitment to change.

Did you know that on the National Food Allergy Death Registry, more than 123 names have been added over the past few years? Each of those names represents a life lost, a family torn apart, and a reminder that awareness and preparedness must never be taken for granted. And tragically, there are even more names not yet listed, stories untold, lives that remain uncounted. Behind every statistic is a child who had dreams, laughter, and love. We cannot, and must not, allow this number to continue growing.

This is why food allergy and asthma awareness is not optional; it is vital. It is why laws like Elijah’s Law exist to ensure that all childcare providers are trained to recognize allergic reactions, know how to respond quickly, and have emergency protocols in place. It is why education, advocacy, and policy reform are at the heart of what we do. Because awareness saves lives. Training saves lives. Policy saves lives.

Through the Elijah Alavi Foundation, we work tirelessly to provide education, training, and advocacy across the nation. Our programs empower schools, childcare providers, and communities to create safer environments for children with food allergies and asthma. We advocate for legislative change, provide resources for families, and foster public health education systems for anaphylaxis prevention so that every child’s life is valued and protected.

His Name Became a Law His Story Became a Lifeline

Elijah’s spirit continues to guide us. His story is one of love, legacy, and purpose, a reminder that from the deepest pain can emerge the greatest change. Our vision is a world where every child with food allergies and asthma can learn, play, and live safely, no matter where they are.

If you would like to stand with us and help sustain this mission, please consider donating to the Elijah Alavi Foundation. Your support fuels our advocacy, anaphalaxis prevention education, and policy efforts that continue to protect children and families every day.
